Live Music Event: Who is Sam Jam?

Slam, bam, wham! Life Café presents Sam Jam – live in our Café this Sunday, the 2nd of October 2011 at 7pm. He’s tall, dark and handsome, and his guitar moves are enough to send you into a mesmerized stupor. But who is this man Sam and what makes him jam?

Where was he hatched?

Kenya – the land of safaris and good coffee. It’s no wonder we feel such a strong sense of kinship with Sam, he comes from the motherland of coffee!

When did he find his musical groove?

When Sam was just a little bambino wandering the halls of his primary school, music crept into his life and latched on for good. He chose it as a school subject and the rest is history. Acoustic guitar, electric guitar, drums, piano – you name it, he plays it.

When did he arrive on SA shores?

Sam moved to ‘The Friendly City’ of Port Elizabeth in 1997 where his trademark smile and friendly disposition allowed him to slot into the laid-back PE culture with ease. It was here that he began playing regular gigs at 4 Winds Folk Club and met The Righteous, a rock band who he still collaborates with to this day.

And now he’s jamming in Cape Town?

Yes, Mr Sam the man is now living in the Mother City. His creativity is well suited to our cosmopolitan city and he’s finding ample inspiration to guide his musical endeavours.

What can we expect to hear from Sam Jam?

He’s smooth – smoother than peanut butter, smoother than lindt white chocolate and almost smoother than the foam on our rich cappucinos. It’s no wonder he plays guitar with such pizzazz when his inspiration comes from the likes of John Mayer, Jimmi Hendrix, Mike Einziger from Incubus and The Edge from U2.

If you want to know more about Sam Jam, listen to some of the tracks on his website here and watch some of his clips on youtube. He’s a treat to listen to live – so pull through on Sunday at 7pm and enjoy his talent over a tasty gourmet pizza (2 large pizzas for R79, so bring a friend). Entrance is free. The last time we hosted him, he filled our café with awesome vibes so we’re proud to have the Sam Jam in store again this Sunday. Don’t miss out.
